Revisit probably the most beloved books in Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic Little House collection with this gorgeous hardcover version of Little House in the Big Woods, that includes a particular foreword from Laura Bush and all-new iconic cowl artwork.

I love these books, and revisiting them again after 30 years throughout the Christmas holidays has been a stupendous trip down memory lane. The only drawback is that I’m in the middle of Little House on the Prairie and the book skips from page 148 again to 117, goes to 148 then on to page 181, which means the whole center part of the book is gone. What a bummer. And now it’s too late to return it, after all. Little House Restaurant, housed in a Victorian Gate house minutes from the market place in the Dales city of Settle. Refined eating in a relaxed atmosphere, a menu which evolves with the seasons using the perfect native produce out there, a small however eclectic wine record to accompany your decisions and an ever changing specials board.

This place was precisely what we were searching for. Great location in an attractive space with ample mountain climbing. If you need to get out of the city and reconnect with nature, that is the place for you. The cabin is properly-maintained and has all the pieces you want. The series theme music was titled The Little House and was written and performed by David Rose The ending theme music, also written by Rose, initially appeared as a piece of incidental music in a later-season episode of Michael Landon’s earlier lengthy-working series, Bonanza.
