Owner's Representative

Have you been thinking about other career options outside of working in a traditional Architecture Office? Katie Merten is here to explain all the ins and outs of being an Owner’s Representative and why it could be right for you!

In this episode of The Young Architect Podcast, Katie Merten shares her story about how she struggled finding work in her small town after graduating from Architecture School and how that search led her down the path to become an owner’s representative. After landing a job working for the Air Force doing some large scale, impressive projects, Katie tells us more about her career and her several moves around the country. Now, she finds herself back home in Minnesota working for The Fish and Wildlife Service.

Katie and Michael explain how being an Owner’s Representative differs from working in a traditional office because you get to see the big picture of the projects you’re working on.

Tune in to hear about alternative jobs in the field of Architecture. As Katie says “There is room in the profession for you and any type of architecture you want to practice. However you want to use your degree, there is room for you in this profession.”
